One of the most tragical result of subversion of The Ottoman Empire and abolition of the caliphate is that Anatolian people had detached from Islamic world’s dynamic relations. The Burmese mentality always has been concerned about that Arakan’s history could be repeat, and consequently, they have to draw away from there. So, they have decided to make an end of the Rohingyas ( Muslim’s of Arakan) to prevent themselves from these potential danger.
Arakan settles down at coast of Bengal Gulf in the Southeast Asia which is neighbour to Bangladesh, India, China, Laos and Thailand. Myanmar or as an old name Burma, has 50 million population and %15 of these population is Muslim. The majority of these Muslim community –approximately 2 milion- has been stayed in Arakan, an occupied zone. However, they have 10.000 km field to live that was 50.000 km formerly.
After the Islamization of Bengal in 1203, Arakan had met Islam. At 1430, they chose Islam fully and established Arakan Islam State. Süleyman Şah was the first sultan of state. Arakan Islam State had ruled over these fields until 1784. In those days, Arakan had become trade and science center. At 1784, they had been collapsed by The Buddhist Burma Sultanate. In 19th century, England had presumed on Arakan, and used people as a slave. Arakan’s people had been forced by Buddhists to change their religion, but they did not change it for what it is worth. Then, Burmese Buddhists had made huge genocide to Muslims, with support of military in 28 March 1942. Consequently, at least 150.000 Muslim had been slaughtered, hundred of thousands people had sheltered peripheral country.
The second attack to Muslims happened at 1962 by Communist General Ne Win. Hundreds of Islamic scholar had been executed by shooting. Also, Ne Win closed down all mosques in Arakan, and, converted them to place of entertainment. The biggest cruelty of Ne Win was violence against Arakan’s women. They all had been taken away concentration camp by soldiers. Most of them had been raped. Some of these women, who had become pregnant as a result of being raped, had been married Buddhist men forcefully. According to human rights committee’s explanation, from 1962 to 1984, 200.000 people had been killed. Approximately 1 million people had escaped to neighbour country, especially Bangladesh.
Before the election at April, ‘Genocides will stop. All ethnic groups can live peacefully.’ Thein Sein said, who is a junta leader and could take support from Muslims by these words. Despite these expressions, he changed his words and said ‘We can send Muslims anywhere, which wants them.’ So he gave a signal to expel 4 million Muslims.
In those days a woman was abducted and raped, Muslims are held responsible. Then, genocide started again in Akyab at 3 June 2012, when 10 Muslims was killed by Buddhist. Muslims who is called ‘Rohingya’ protested impressions and killing, and then Burmese polices and Buddhist group ‘Rakhine’ started genocide. More than 300 Muslim village was burned, more than 1000 person was killed. As a consequence of incension , 90.000 person became homeless.
While all these events happens, Muslims have heavy impression. In those days, go a pilgrimage, sacrifice, perform a salaat and other worships were forbidden. Also, Muslims could not marry, have a child and go a domestic trip or to visit Buddhist family without permission of Buddhist status quo. In addition, recite the Azan and learn Kur’an-ı Kerim were forbidden. Muslims are only allowed to go primary school. If they want to go high school or university, they have to choose Buddhism as their religion. Beside, Muslims have to pay taxes for every born and death of them.
When Muslims escape from Arakan, they refuge to other country. One of these countries is Bangladesh, sometimes do not give admittance to refugees and send them back to Arakan, but, girls for being not raped throw themselves away to sea. People who arrives Bangladesh has a big disappointment. Bangladesh has many concentration camp. Mosoni , Kutupalong and Teknaf some of these camps. Buddhist Burmese government claim that people who live in camps cooperated with resistant Muslims, and, Bangladesh government claim that there has Armed Islamic Fundamentalist. Therefore, they do not let entrance of international aid organization.
PM Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s chief advisor İbrahim Kalın gives an expression on his Twitter account. He said “For Burmese Muslims/Rohingyas, Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoğlu speak with several FMs. OIC launched an initiative. Attacks halted. Aid to be delivered. “
